INVESTING IN OIL

SHELL: Last month we invested in SHELL : This company has a policy setting out Powering Progress to generate value for their shareholders, customers and wider society. It supports their purpose of providing more and cleaner energy solutions, with the aim of profitably transforming Shell into a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.

See how they plan to put their "Powering Progress" into action.

The China Dolls invested twice into Shell over the last month, making our total investment into this company over £5000. We are showing a small profit of 1% at the moment - but that's a good start!

CRODA: What a battering this company has had over the past few months.

The share price has fallen as Croda warned profits will be up to £100m below the

guidance given in June. They were hoping for a pick-up in trading this Autumn/Winter but

there are no indications that this is happening. Customers are using up existing stock and

are also ‘tightening their belts’ with regard to purchasing. The company has shut down

some machinery and is looking at simplifying business processes. However the company remains well positioned to rebound when the macro environment improves.

So having read this you will be wondering why we invested more into Croda this month!

We are of the opinion that it has been oversold and, optimists that we are, decided to put a further £2000. The share price is sitting at 4076 at the moment. Our average purchase price over the years we have held this share is 2867 - so we are still showing a 41% profit. We are strong believers in this company. Let's hope we're right!

HALMA: Halma is seeking to continue to grow 10% per year. Over the last 10 years revenue has grown at a compound annual rate of 12% while adjusted post-tax profits have risen 11%.

It is showing record profit for the 20th consecutive year.

We are showing a small loss of -7% on this share. However, again we have decided to invest a little more into this company. (was the gin flowing at our meeting). One for the future we hope.

SIMEC ATLANTIS ENERGY: is a renewable energy company. Initially it was a developer of the tidal powerturbines and projects, but after becoming a part of GFG Alliance it has expanded its business also to the waste-to-energy and hydropower.

As many of you maybe aware the China Dolls live by the sea down in Poole/Bournemouth. We see the tidal change every 6 hours every day of the year and we cannot understand, with the modern technology now available, as in heavy duty plastics, why tidal power is not used more to generate power into our homes and businessess. We are convinced this will happen and are holding on......in fact we have lost most of our money in this share so it's not worth selliing! Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith - on this occasion we were proved wrong - but watch this space!

OTHER BUSINESS:

SEGRO: SEGRO is a UK Real Estate Investment Trust, and a leading owner, asset manager and developer of modern warehousing and industrial property

However, we have fallen out of love with this company. We initially purchased their shares at the start of the pandemic and started to make a good profit. But the use of warehouse storage has been declining and the share has now dropped to 701 (we purchased at an average of 847). Having quite a large sum of money invested into Segro, we decided to sell half our holding in order to invest elsewhere.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE, OUR TREASURER, PAM S. WAS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE WE RECEIVED £565 IN DIVIDENDS THIS MONTH. WHICH WILL GO TOWARDS OUR CHRISTMAS LUNCH AT THE JETTY IN MUDEFORD. ONLY TWO MONTHS AWAY.
